About unblock.space

Founded is 2021, unblock.space uses objects as tools of ability and advocacy.

unblock.space is UM Project’s little sibling and uses the power of design and making to engage multiple actors to make and/or use relational objects.

We love all types of objects like the products coming from the tradition of industrial design or the prototypes proposed by speculative design.

We believe objects today should be instruments to make the invisible visible. We call them pro-tests. They are probes, tests and experiments acknowledging and celebrating the divergent through unconventional objects.

unblock.space is a collaboration between Daisy Dawson, a neuro-liberated design activist and, François Chambard, a shy-tivist.

Daisy is based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. She has taken a pioneering role in neurodivergence and design and coined the term “designer by default.” François shares his time between Brooklyn and Vermont, USA. He sees unblock.space as an extension of UM Project, moving from the practice of a single maker to one facilitating the work of many.

1-
A neuro-liberated design activist unapologically advocates for neurodivergence through positive models and theories. Her design practice results from countless decisions and solutions generated by navigating a not-so understanding normative world.

2-
A shy-tivist designer is hesitant to make strong vocal statements or will not be seen in a lot in protests. Instead he will build strong positions and relationships by using his work and the objects he creates as megaphones.
